- OpinionFinder - Jan Wiebe's Natural Language Processing (NLP) Group at the University of Pittsburgh Copyright (c) 2006 University of Pittsburgh, All Rights Reserved SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH OPINIONFINDER SYSTEM The OpinionFinder system, both binary and source (hereafter, Software) are copyrighted by the University of Pittsburgh and ownership remains with the University of Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh grants you (hereafter, Licensee) a license to use the Software for research and teaching purposes only, without a fee. Licensee may distribute the binary and source code (if released) to third parties at your institution (but not other institutions) provided that the copyright notice and this statement appears on all copies, no charge is associated with such copies, and the NLP group at the University of Pittsburgh is publicly and prominently acknowledged as the source of this software. Licensee may make derivative works. However, if Licensee distributes any derivative work based on or derived from the Software, then Licensee will (1) notify University of Pittsburgh regarding its distribution of the derivative work, (2) clearly notify users that such derivative work is a modified version and not the original OpinionFinder system distributed by the University of Pittsburgh, and (3) the NLP group at the University of Pittsburgh is publicly and prominently acknowledged as the source of this software. Any Licensee wishing to make commercial use or internal business use of the Software must contact the University of Pittsburgh, c/o the NLP Group, to negotiate an appropriate license for such use. Commercial use includes (1) integration of all or part of the source code into a product for sale or license by or on behalf of Licensee to third parties, or (2) distribution of the binary code or source code to third parties that need it to utilize a commercial product sold or licensed by or on behalf of Licensee. THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT THE SUITABILITY OF THIS SOFTWARE FOR ANY PURPOSE. IT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY. THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES SUFFERED BY THE USERS OF THIS SOFTWARE. MAINTENANCE FOR THE OPINIONFINDER SYSTEM IS NOT PROVIDED FOR UNDER THIS AGREEMENT. The third party software that is provided with the Software, with such third party's license agreement, is included for use at the Licensee's option. If the Licensee chooses to use such software, then such use shall be governed by such third party's license agreement and not by this Agreement. The Software contains and uses portions of the OpenNLP 1.3 library, which is covered by the GNU Lesser General Public License. The Licensee may modify the OpenNLP 1.3 library for the Licensee's own use and do reverse engineering for debugging such modifications. By using or copying this Software, Licensee agrees to abide by the copyright law and all other applicable laws of the U.S. including, but not limited to, export control laws, and the terms of this license. The University of Pittsburgh shall have the right to terminate this license immediately by written notice upon Licensee's breach of, or non-compliance with, any of its terms. Licensee may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement that is caused or encouraged by Licensee's failure to abide by the terms of this license. The NLP group at University of Pittsburgh requests users of this software to return improvements that they make to opin@cs.pitts.edu and grant the University of Pittsburgh redistribution rights.
